Okay, my trip resulted in a stand mixer, measuring cups, ingredients and a Paula Deen baking dish. The dish only seemed necessary being that this was a Paula Deen recipe! I wanted a Kitchenaid mixer, but decided I would get it later if I become a master chef. So I got an Oster. It had good reviews so we will see.
I got all the ingredients out and organized. As you can see the Chugginton gang joined in the preparation. I'm pretty sure none of them ended up in the cake.
First lesson learned : WHEN MELTING BUTTER IN THE MICROWAVE, COVER THE BOWL!! Okay, I've got a messy microwave to clean up.
Second lesson learned : DO NOT FIGHT WITH THE MIXER. YOU WILL NOT WIN!!
I've posted pics of ingredients, utensils, crust and cake before baking, the cake baking(not sure what that weird bubble on one side is), the spatula that was thrown from the mixer( I did clean it off before using it again), and after pics.
Even after 50 minutes, the cake is super gooey. Not sure if it's the right consistency or not. This cake requires virtually no chewing. I'm pretty sure it's at least 1,000 weight watchers points per piece. I enjoyed wearing my apron. I bought it over a year ago because I thought it was cute. This was the first time using my spatula. It and the mixer do not like each other. I hope they can work out their issues because I am going to need that to go smoother next time.
On another note, I have to use the timer in the iHome dock because I don't know how to use the one on the oven.
Anyway, here's the recipe if anyone else wants to give it a try:
PAULA DEEN'S OOEY GOOEY BUTTER CAKE

-do not over cook as center should be gooey
If anyone else gives it a try, let me know your results! Until next week.....
Rella, you are too funny!! I'm not that good in the kitchen myself. I usually let Willie handle that ~ but since he's gone 8 months out of the year, I have to stick TV dinners & chicken nuggets in the oven! Poor Sebastian does his own cooking on occasion. BUT . . . like you, since "pinning" all these recipes I have decided to try a little harder. WE CAN DO THIS!!! Can't wait for next week's adventure. Love you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mel! I guess I should add that Brody did not like the cake. Oh well! Let me know how your stuff turns out!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! My Kitchen Aid mixer is my favorite thing in my kitchen! It's worth the money!!
